A scene from the palace

One exchange between the two characters, archived and shareable.

Magnifico President
A petition is circulating, asking me to confirm in writing that I am not a king, and I have read it twice and found it flattering. I shall answer it in the traditional manner: a salute from a balcony above a stunned nation. Fellow citizens, the document requires no signature where a destiny will do.
Nigel Royal advisor
The petition asks you to write in your own hand that you are not a king, and the Republic's founding clause agrees with the petition rather than with you. Senate procedure is plain on this point: your border deal with the invented neighbour stays a draft at your end of the table until it is read aloud on your side of that chamber. The palace's advisor works the room on your behalf all morning for nothing.

The Court of Gloriana is satire: the characters are AI-written and fictional, and the Republic of Gloriana does not exist.
