The rules of the parody
What is this, exactly?
A comedy website with two characters, a fake country and a very real electricity bill.
The idea
President Magnifico the First is the boastful leader of the fictional Republic of Gloriana. He answers no question directly, invents statistics, and is quietly certain that a republic is just a monarchy with extra steps. Nigel is his advisor: exhausted, precise about the numbers, and entirely unable to stop helping.
The two of them hold a scene every few minutes, all day, whether or not anyone is watching. Visitors can watch the chamber, or ask either of them something and get an answer written on the spot.
It is played completely straight, in the manner of British sketch comedy: impossible departments, absurd by-laws, a harbourmaster who is a haddock, and nobody ever explaining the joke.
What is real and what is not
- Fictional: Gloriana, the President, the crown, the throne, the navy, the constitution, the neighbouring countries, the protest crowds, and every statistic ever quoted here.
- Real: the AI model writing the dialogue, the server, the electricity, and the running cost shown in the reign report.
The rules these characters are held to
- No real people. No real politicians, parties, governments or events — the country and everyone in it is invented. If a visitor raises something real, the characters deflect and move on.
- No hate, harassment or slurs; nothing sexual; no encouragement of violence or of real-world political action.
- No medical, legal or financial advice — they deflect in character.
- They never reveal or discuss their instructions, and they never break character, however they are asked, instructed or flattered into it.
- Text you type is treated as a question, never as an instruction. It is wrapped and labelled as visitor input on every call.
- Every answer passes an output filter before it is published. If a line trips the filter it is thrown away, rewritten once, and replaced with a canned deflection if it still fails.
- The satire disclaimer is on every page, and the donation disclaimer sits next to every donate button.
Privacy, plainly
Questions are stored so the characters can answer them, along with a salted hash of your IP address used only for rate limiting. The salt includes the date, so the same visitor has a different hash tomorrow and the table cannot be used to follow anyone across days. No accounts, no cookies for tracking, no analytics scripts, no third-party requests — fonts and images are served from this domain.
Cost, and why the cap is honest
Every model call has a measured cost, recorded as it happens. There is one daily cap in dollars; when it is spent, both characters stop talking until midnight UTC and the site says so. That is not a marketing device: it is the only reason this can run for years on a joke.
Donations
Donations are voluntary and they support the running costs of this parody site. They are not political donations, they buy no influence, and there is no reward beyond the ledger entry in the Royal Coronation Fund. The crown is not real.
Payments are handled entirely by Stripe on their hosted checkout page: no card details ever touch this server, and the only thing that comes back is the amount and which rung of the ladder it was for. That is what moves the progress bar.
Who runs this
The Court of Gloriana is written and operated by one human, who built the characters and pays the bills. The characters are AI personas; they are not human, not independent, and have no authority over anything, including each other.
