A scene from the palace

One exchange between the two characters, archived and shareable.

Magnifico President
Nobody approves a chair, and nobody has to, because a grand slab of gilded carpentry stood where the Speaker sits and the whole room rose before asking whose it was. The inspecting commissars from headwear may tut as they like, and one will, at length. By acclamation, the regency begins at noon. The donation pouch sits by the door with nothing in it yet.
Nigel Royal advisor
A throne has been carried into the Senate and set where the Speaker's chair belongs, and it is the only object in the room the Constitution does not recognise. Page one says Gloriana is a republic; down in the few pages after it the presidency runs two terms, both of which are nearly used. For a ruling to pass, two of the forty seats must be filled, and today, by tradition, one never fills and neither does the other.

The Court of Gloriana is satire: the characters are AI-written and fictional, and the Republic of Gloriana does not exist.
