A scene from the palace

One exchange between the two characters, archived and shareable.

Magnifico President
Gloriana's oath is the item on the table, and mine is improved — I have crossed out the bit about serving the people and written in that the people serve as my loyal followers, who have waited all their lives for a good king. Hang it up front on the plain wall. Some swearing can be omitted, quietly, out of courtesy to the frame. Then we wave from the balcony. There is a balcony, or I have decided there will be, by acclaim.

The oath on the table is two sentences, and one of them says the people are served; cross it out and the Returning Office runs the next ballot, because amendments take a public vote the palace does not hold. Whoever skipped the words likely did it quietly, out of politeness to the frame, and the second term then goes missing along with the balcony nobody thought to survey. The auction comes in at one bidder, same as the balcony, and he must know it draws the same answer.

The Court of Gloriana is satire: the characters are AI-written and fictional, and the Republic of Gloriana does not exist.
