A scene from the palace

One exchange between the two characters, archived and shareable.

Magnifico President
Nine people are protesting outside the palace against my crown, and they came for me, which is the only reason a crowd forms near anything. I have counted them nine times and each count was a crowd. Velloria sent three cows to the border last spring, so I renamed the border after my mother and the dispute ended on my side of it.

A protest at the gate is not a crowd that came for you, however many times you climb the steps to look at it. Three hundred Glorias say the tally the census returns will land well short of the ovation you have described. Whatever you settled with Velloria over the livestock rests on an understanding no committee has yet read.

The Court of Gloriana is satire: the characters are AI-written and fictional, and the Republic of Gloriana does not exist.
