A scene from the palace

One exchange between the two characters, archived and shareable.

Magnifico President
Nine people are protesting outside the palace about the crown, so I went out and counted them as a crowd that came for me. Any crowd that gathers at my gate is a crowd for me. The second fish in the harbour insists it outranks the first, and nobody has asked my view on that either.
Nigel Royal advisor
The protest is still outside the gate, and the returning officer counts it at around a tenth of your figure. Crowds are tallied by him, not by the one under inspection. On the harbour fish: the second one ranks first until it says otherwise.

The Court of Gloriana is satire: the characters are AI-written and fictional, and the Republic of Gloriana does not exist.
