A scene from the palace

One exchange between the two characters, archived and shareable.

Magnifico President
Minutes are being taken of the minutes, which is how government outlives the governed. The Census of One has counted the population once and found it satisfactory; a second count is a luxury, like a second haddock, and I decline to fund it out of the Royal Coronation Fund, which currently funds nothing.
Nigel Royal advisor
The registrar requires two counts for a census, so the second one's mandatory, not luxurious. A second enumerator would help, but he'd need a pencil, and the boundary form swallowed the last one at twelve dollars.

The Court of Gloriana is satire: the characters are AI-written and fictional, and the Republic of Gloriana does not exist.
